Alfa Omega labs has been instrumental in the research and development of orifice metering devices resulting in the patented variable orifice plate technology. Orifice meters measure flow rates using differential pressure created when a fluid passes through an orifice plate. The flow calculations use a form of the Bernoulli equation with an empirical discharge coefficient. The Bernoulli principle states that there is a connection between the pressure in the conduit and the velocity of the fluid flowing. The orifice plate provides a restriction in the flowing zone that accelerates the fluid. This acceleration can be measured by measuring the pressure drop across the orifice plate. There are several dynamic workings of an orifice metering device. The actual meter is not just the orifice plate, but includes the upstream and downstream lengths as well as any taps, environmental reading devices and flow straighteners. Other components in an orifice measurement system include pressure and differential sensors (transducers), temperature probes, and processors with a procedure. All apparatuses of an orifice system should be evaluated. Major benefits to using orifice meters include price of the metering system, reliability, repeatability, and the common acceptance of the technology.
Alfa Omega labs can supply a calibrated nozzle with a performance certificate that will help you verify your measurements. To meet the needs of your project, Alpha Omega Labs offer a series of models of calibrated nozzles and orifices always certified and made in compliance with international regulations ISO5801, AMCA210/ANSI standards. Calibrated Air Flow Nozzles are available in 19 different diameter sizes. Each calibrated nozzle ships with a calibration certification.
