Alfa Omega lab's technology was used extensively in the research and development of the next generation of highly disruptive patented airflow measurement and control technology. This next generation of fluid measurement and control technology required the next generation of testing equipment to accurately and quickly test the new technology in achieving milestones. The patented Variable Orifice Plate Technology is applied to any type of an aperture device or geometric shape. The single size Aperture device will perform similar to multiple calibrated orifices. One such application is for Zone Level Air Terminals, that self-commission in real time featuring a 100-1 turndown and airflow accuracies to within a few CFM regardless of pressure deviations.
The Laboratory includes an accredited pressurized acoustical sound chamber with (4) automated air flow stands capable of 1 CFM - 20,000 CFM and up to 6" W.G. . (2) of the automated flow stands each discharge and exhaust into the pressurized sound chamber. A automated Encoder with data collection modules is used for testing multiple actuator's resolution and feedback accuracy. Repeatability testing of the same product is encouraged. Auto calibration modes thru our software calibrate for environmental and testing factors after each test to ensure accurate repeatability testing. IAQ particle testing, Acoustics testing, Thermal and Electric coil testing are available. Systems mock up validation testing is available.
The Laboratory includes live HD video feeds with time stamped testing data, including sided by side product performance testing. All flow stands are automatically calibrated at the end of each cycle with automated software. This allows for expedited airflow measurement with consistent and accurate results over a wide dynamic range without tearing down the test assembly. A automated encoder with data collection software is available for testing multiple actuator feedback and resolution. Virtual or live witnessed testing is encouraged.

ASHRAE – 195 testing consists of an all-inclusive air terminal test with integrated Vav Controller, transducer, actuator, and air flow measuring station on advanced calibrated air flow stands with a modulating damper assembly.
IDD® – Intelligent Downstream Device Standard
Intelligent IDD - Downstream Device Standard includes the ASHRAE 195 testing standard. This comprehensive test validates performance for Intelligent Down Stream Zone Level Devices up to 700 + data points. When a subject device such as an air terminal passes the IDD standard, each air terminal will ship with an IDD certification label.
